The Ph.D. Programme consists of the following stages: Course work, Area Comprehensive Exam, Registration Seminar, Three Credit Seminars, Synopsis Submission, Thesis submission, and final viva voce examination.

The Scholar should plan out the research activities so as to complete the research and submit the Thesis during this period.
A Ph.D. Scholar may submit his/her Thesis only after a minimum of 2 years from the date of registration. The time period allowed for the submission of the Thesis is 5 years from the date of admission or 4 years from the date of registration. Further, if required, an extension for a period of 1-2 years may be granted on case to case basis.
